Part of "Our Commitment to
Excellence" is providing the community and surrounding area access to as
much Health Education and Information as possible.
There is a tremendous amount of
information on the internet and sifting through it all can be tedious and
frustrating all at the same time. Here, we try to provide a place where
you might find some information more easily. Scroll down and see what we
have to offer. If there is something specific you would like to see, just
contact us and we will be happy to try to provide that for you!

Keeping Us Safe |

Be Prepared...and plan for emergencies!
In your day-to-day living, disasters may seem a distant possibility. Yet
natural disasters such as floods or tornadoes... Technological or environmental
accidents such as chemical spills... Or service disruptions such as power
failures during the winter can strike any community, including yours,
at any time.
If you're unprepared for a disaster, it can shatter your life.
|
|
|
Severe Storms!
Thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, blizzards, high winds and heavy rain can
develop quickly and hit hard, posing a threat to life and property.
|
|
|
In the Woods!
Every year the news carries stories about adults and children being lost
in the woods. All too often the stories contain lines such as, "
clad
only in a sweater, shorts and running shoes," or "wandered into
the bush
while picking blueberries." Nobody expects to get
lost and yet it happens frequently. |
|
|
Floods!
Beyond the human toll taken in lives and suffering, flood damage costs
Canadian taxpayers millions of dollars annually.
Though
governments at every level work to reduce the risk of floods, the first
line of defence always rests with the individual. Each of us has a responsibility
to protect our homes and families to the greatest extent possible. By
planning ahead and taking sensible precautions, you can do your part to
minimize flood damage. |

Community Safety Net™
is a revolutionary safety awareness and education program that creates a network
of concerned individuals who want to protect children and help save lives. It’s
been embraced by thousands of communities in Canada and the United States,
forming an extensive safety net that stretches across the continent.
But the real magic comes from the program’s
ability to increase awareness, while bringing communities together for the
benefit of children. Parents, community leaders, local businesses, and schools
all play a key part in the process. And it works. Community Safety Net™
has already saved lives. As it expands across North America, we know it will
save many, many more.
How Does It Work?
When a community organization (such as the police or fire department or
Lion’s Club) chooses to offer a safety program to the local children, we
swing into action. One of our experienced Program Coordinators (PCs)
visits the community, and gets to know the sponsoring organization. The PC then
visits local businesses and merchants to build awareness and raise support for
the program on the organization’s behalf. In return for their support, merchants
receive Community Safety Net stickers and posters to put in their
windows, which identify them as program sponsors. Each supporter also receives a
listing in the community’s safety books.
When the campaign is complete, we send the
programs to the sponsoring organization, which distributes them to the kids and
their families.
